Just over 1900 year ago, the Roman emperor Nero, sent his armies to crush the Jewish rebellion in Jerusalem. He commenced siege against the city in AD66, and finally crucified the city and nation in a terrible bloodbath which ended in AD70, in which was Jerusalem destroyed and the Jews dispersed.
Two millenia later, against seemingly impossible odds, the tide was turned, and Jews gathered in ever increasing numbers to establish their roofs in Palestine.
Some say that this is the result from the zeal of national Zionism, but the only satisfactory answer is given by God: "I have made, and I will bear, even I will carry and will deliver you (Israel)" Isaiah 46v4
